Meet Megan
Megan Meyerhoffer, LCSW-S, RPT-S
I feel incredibly lucky and deeply grateful to have found my calling in supporting individuals and families across all stages of life—children, teens, adults, and families—as they confront the various trials and tribulations life throws our way. As an EMDR Consultant-In-Training and a Registered Play Therapist Supervisor, I bring a wealth of experience and expertise to my practice. Additionally, I am an Advanced Practitioner and Facilitator of Raising Kids with Big, Baffling Behaviors: A Course for Parents™, a Guide for Syzygy Institute’s IFS Informed EMDR Training Program, and a Facilitator for Glow Worm Play Cafe’s Parent Support Groups, all which further enrich my ability to support individuals and families facing unique challenges.
I deeply understand the power of therapy because I’ve experienced it firsthand. I come to this work with the lived experience of trauma and the process of mending that has included symptoms of depression and anxiety. I’ve done (and continue to do) the hard work of integration and self-growth and am firmly committed to a life of self-exploration and curiosity. I wouldn’t ask you to do something I haven’t done. The humility and reverence I hold for the therapy process fuels my passion for this work.
My approach is grounded in the belief that every behavior holds meaning and that we navigate through our pain and find healing within the context of relationships. My methods are eclectic, rooted in neurobiology and relational neuroscience, ensuring a personalized approach that meets you exactly where you are.
Currently, I am on the path to becoming a certified Integrative Mental Health Practitioner, a role that marries the critical elements of nutrition, movement, and mindfulness with clinical practice. Living with Type 1 diabetes, I bring a unique perspective and expertise to supporting those navigating the challenges of recent diagnoses or chronic illnesses.
Based on my life experiences and training, I offer a unique, sound approach to working with suicide, grief, and people with vulnerable nervous systems due to chronic stress and/or trauma. My own life has been deeply impacted by complicated grief which has inspired me to expand my knowledge and skill in this area. In 2023, I completed Megan Devine’s Grief Care Professional Certificate Program.
Before fully immersing myself in this field, I gained valuable experience in child welfare, crisis intervention, intensive in-home therapy, school-based counseling, general individual counseling, and medical social work. Louisville, Kentucky, has been my home for most of my life, and it was here, while pursuing my bachelor's degree in an unrelated field, that I discovered my true passion for helping and connecting with others. This realization led me to study social work at Spalding University, focusing on child and family welfare, and later to deepen my expertise with a master’s degree from the University of Louisville Kent School of Social Work.
I deeply believe that each of us has a well of inner resources - innate wisdom and strength - to tap into/call upon when faced with life’s challenges, adversities, and chaos. My role, as I see it, is to facilitate and nurture your access to these inner resources, guiding you through the challenges of life with compassion and understanding.
