Meet Cadence

I provide a multitude of therapeutic modalities in addition to Art Therapy. I integrate numerous expressive outlets into our sessions such as journaling, sand tray therapy, and play therapy techniques. As a trained Art Therapist, I am also trained in and use the techniques of more traditional talk therapies. Additionally, I provide EMDR Therapy as a trained EMDR Therapist.

My personal and professional experience with therapy has given me a unique perspective on the therapeutic journey. Both art and talk therapies have been positive and impactful forces of change in my own life. I understand the importance of a strong therapeutic relationship and an adaptable approach. I aim to create a comfortable space in a judgment- free zone that offers a collaborative process.

My educational background includes a Master’s degree in Education in Counseling and Personnel Services with a concentration in Art Therapy from the University of Louisville. I hold an undergraduate degree in Psychology with a minor in Art. Additionally, I have been trained in EMDR Therapy through EMDR Consulting.

I have experience in working with individuals in outpatient and inpatient medical centers from across the lifespan. I currently work with children (8+), teens, adults, and older adults. I specialize in working with anxiety, depression, substance use, trauma, grief and loss, physical injuries, and neurocognitive disorders.

I strongly believe in and take a person-centered, trauma-informed, integrative approach to all of the therapy modalities I offer. In therapy, I blend techniques from strengths-based, solution-focused, mindfulness, and somatic therapies. This allows me to invite the whole person into the therapeutic process and take a holistic approach. I deeply understand the important connection between our mind and body as well as the importance of each individuals lived experiences in our world.

We all have the ability to persevere and the knowledge to do so inside of us. My goal is to facilitate a space in which you can process the difficulties of life, strengthen your resiliency skills, and thrive. I believe in the uniqueness of every person’s story and make adaptability to your therapeutic journey important. I understand just how difficult it can be to take steps towards healing and beginning this journey. My goal is to meet you where you are at and walk with you while you work towards living an authentic and fulfilled life.

Cadence Gazo, M.Ed., LPATA

I am Cadence Gazo, a Licensed Professional Art Therapist Associate and Trained EMDR Therapist dedicated to guiding and supporting people of all ages on their journey toward healing.

I believe in the healing power of creative expression and a holistic approach. It can be difficult to put words to our visual experiences and emotions, especially when trauma has occurred. Expressive Therapies can help us to connect these and bring fragmented parts of ourselves together.
